In the face of heightened security breaches around Benue State, especially Benue South Senatorial District, the Zone C Commander of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, William Agada, has called for urgent and adequate motivation for members of the security group.
Agada, who made the call after taking delivery of a set of new tires presented by Godwin Obla Foundation to aid the movement of the Guards in their task of securing the lives and properties of Zone C residents, said they have always felt motivated by the philanthropic gestures of Chief Godwin Obla, SAN, but admonished other Idomas and the public to emulate the Foundation through contributions to the logistics requirements of the Guards.
In an exclusive chat with mustardpoint.com, the Civil Protection Guards Commander said “My men and women are highly dedicated to the job of making sure that Zone C is crime free. Just like Chief Godwin Obla has been doing for us, I wish more members of the public can come in and provide more motivation. Some of the areas we seriously need help include more vehicles to cover the large landmass of the Zone more effectively. The few we have are grounded because of lack of maintenance. We also need better clothing and equipments. As you are aware, many of our operatives are married with families, but as volunteers they need to be financially catered for also. I can assure you that with adequate motivation a lot can be achieved in the maintenance of peace and towards the eradication of crime”.
Agada also appealed for the group to be provided with advanced security gadgets such as special torchlights, walkie-talkie, and drones to make their job easier and safer.
The already high rate of insecurity in Benue South reached a new dimension with the serial attacks by suspected fulani armed militia on Akpachi, Otukponobi, and Ogobia, all in Otukpo LGA, as well as Ankpechi in Ohimini LGA, all between 11th and 15th July, claiming over twenty lives across board.
